080: Dummy Maxxing: Why Your Expertise Is Killing Your Content

You're not too basic. You're not boring. You're just too smart for your own content, and it's costing you bookings.

This week I break down “dummy maxxing,” a concept I came across in a carousel that stopped me mid scroll, and I tie it straight back to something I said a few episodes ago: the stuff that feels like basic common sense to you as the expert reads as pure genius to your clients. The problem was never your knowledge. It's that nobody's translating it into something your audience can actually picture happening in their own life.

In this one, I get into:

  • why “your kid can be as energetic as they want, I'll still capture the magic” doesn't land the way you think it does
  • the three step framework I use for turning what you already know into captions and pitches that actually convert
  • five real before-and-after examples, including the exact lines I use for a pricing conversation, a posing pitch, and a newborn session.

Also in this one:
the one on one with a mastermind student this week that I couldn't stop thinking about, and why consistency alone was never going to be enough.

The Mastermind Waitlist → If this episode lit something up for you, if you recognized yourself in the pattern of working hard without seeing the growth you know you're capable of the Posers Mastermind is where we fix that.

This is my most comprehensive program for photographers who are done leaving money on the table and ready to build a business with actual strategy behind it. We go deep on marketing, lead generation, content, email, sales psychology, pricing, client experience, and the mindset it takes to run a profitable company, not just a busy one. Everything I taught in this episode is just the surface of what we build together inside.

I built this business as a single mom of three boys with no fallback plan and no safety net. Failure genuinely was not an option.

The strategies I teach inside the Mastermind are the same ones that turned my camera into a career, my career into a company, and my company into a life I'm incredibly proud of.

If you're ready to stop hoping the bookings come and start building the machine that makes them get on the waitlist for the next round. https://j-anne-photography.kit.com/posers-waitlist
